The French school in Bern

We stand for quality

The French school in Bern is accredited and authorized by the Directorate for Public Education of the canton of Bern and by the Agence pour l’Enseignement Français à l’Etranger (AEFE, French agency for education abroad). It is part of the network for French education overseas which comprises over 450 schools worldwide. For further information, click here. The EFB was founded in 1962 and is located near the city center of Bern, on the premises of the French Embassy. The EFB admits pupils aged 3 to 15 and teaches children of over 28 nationalities, with or without prior knowledge of French. The medium of instructon is strictly French and the EFB provides remedial courses for non-French speakers. The school devotes a lot of attention to language teaching and offers classes in both German and English, from age 3 onwards. With the exeption of language teaching, which is more intensive than elsewhere, teaching strictly corresponds to the French syllabus, which is taught in every AEFE French schhool all over the world. The school provides wholesome meals (to halfboarders) from noon to 13h30 and from 16h30 to 18h00 pupils have the possibility to stay in the school’s study room and do their homework under supervision. The school also offers a range of extracurricular activities, including cross-country and downhill skiing during the winter season.
